"Glider Park"
3rd Avenue in the South Bronx between 165th and 166th Streets, NY

“Glider Park” was constructed in 1989, it occupies a courtyard parking area between a new post office and an adjacent public school wall with a mural by Tim Rollins and KOS. Its two painted steel pavilions have overhead screens and porch glider-like seating. The pavilions are joined at the top by two long columns, one resting on a red brick clad column. Trees on site became integral to the design and have subsequently grown to envelope the top of the pavilions.
